modified Thursday, 04 September 2008

Goal
CeRe's goal in this project was the creation of a qualitative and quantitative research that would give account for the level of public participation in Romania. The study "Public Participation between Legislation and Efficiency" is assessing for the second year in a row the efficiency of Romanian practices of information, consultation and involving the public in the decision making process, offering not only a perspective on respecting legal provisions, but also on the efficiency and the management of involving the citizens in the decisional process.

Results

  • 2 editions of the study „Is There Public Participation in Romania?", in 2006 and 2007, were published; you can find them in the „Resources" section of our website;
  • over 1500 copies were printed for both editions and distributed throughout the country, to both NGOs and public authorities;
  • the 2007 edition of the study was launched in all development regions of Romania, Bucharest included;
  • in all 7 cities where the study was launched, a world café was organised, and guests debated on the topic of public participation and solutions for increasing efficiency of participative processes. You can see pictures from the CeRe's world cafés here;
  • the 2006 edition of the study was introduced in the bibliography of the master's programme „Public Policies and Management in the Public Administration" of the Sociology and Social Assistance Faculty, the University of Bucharest.
