English description

The Timisoara Federation of Tenants’ Associations (FALT) is concerned with the way in which the administration and various service providers they work with put into practice the decisions made by the local authorities and run projects of interest to the people of Timisoara. Therefore, 7 projects were monitored – renovation of a street, expansion of the lighting system, thermal rehabilitation of apartment blocks, etc.
The FALT members went to the construction sites and monitored the works step by step, making sure that the citizens’ interests were observed. The City Hall was called in to “take measures” whenever necessary. FALT kept in contact with the residents of the targeted districts and with the wider public the whole time. They set up meetings with the residents and the City Hall, solutions were found, observations and suggestions were made – all this was done to ensure that the projects are adequately carried out and that the public money is not wasted. What is more, the people got more actively involved in protecting their rights, and the City Hall became more responsible.
