English description

The PLATFORM “Together for a Better City” is a group of nongovernmental organizations concerned with the natural urban development of our capital. They proposed to the Romanian political class a set of minimal measures – the PACT for Bucharest – meant to alleviate the problems that are currently facing the city – traffic, chaotic urban development, disappearance of certain historic buildings and green areas, etc.
In order to share their expertise and to persuade the politicians and administrators to take into account the PACT for Bucharest, the member organizations of the PLATFORM had countless meetings with the candidates for Mayor of Bucharest – meetings which were held in buildings or areas that are endangered from the viewpoint of architecture and urban planning. Most of them agreed – or at least they declared they agree – with the proposals comprised in the PACT. At present, the signing organizations are working to transform the measures stipulated in the “PACT for Bucharest” into Decisions of the General Council of Bucharest and to initiate law amendments that would become the framework for enforcing the measures already proposed with the “PACT for Bucharest”.
