English description

Using the experience of one of its sister cities, Iasi City Hall followed the French model for district centers. The project aims at bringing the local administration closer to the citizens, developing social relations between the citizens and raising their level of involvement in decision making. A district center is a place equipped with computers and internet access, that has a public relations counter. The district centers are also used to hold meetings between representatives of the municipal administration and those of the District Council, throughout which notifications and suggestions from the citizens are registered. Evaluation questionnaires on the services provided by the City Hall are also distributed. Five such centers are currently operating: Nicolina, Alexandru cel Bun, Tatarasi, Pacurari and Frumoasa. Two new centers will open in the Copou and Galata areas. In the future, the City Hall plans to draw up a map of the citizens’ problems, divided into districts, and to build a “Public Opinion Barometer”.
