English description

The main objective of this initiative was to assign to the CNCD Board of Directors individuals who are competent, and not selected on political grounds. The first step was to promote principles and procedures that would regulate the method of selection for the members of the Board of Directors. The second step consisted of discussions with the political parties and parliamentary commissions. The following methods were used: setting up meetings with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, as well as with the commissions of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, sending a letter signed by 20 NGOs to the President, the Parliament, the Government, the European Commission Delegation to Bucharest, the European Commission, the Embassy of Finland and the Embassy of Germany, attending the meetings of the competent commissions, conducting protests against nomination on political grounds and supporting the candidacy of an NGO representative to the Board of Directors. An essential result was having an NGO representative in the Board, who is actively involved and can improve the activity of CNDC from the inside. Furthermore, the members of the Coalition, who have worked in an informal structure and without funding, have a lot of collective experience that they can put to good use again.
