English description

The town hall put together a focus group to prepare a questionnaire on assessing the town’s tourism potential. The results of the questionnaire showed that tourism development is a priority to the citizens and that many of them are willing to provide tourist services – board/lodging/trips. In order to keep in touch with them over a long period of time, the citizens were also invited to join the Isaccea Citizens’ Group.

A focus group of fishermen acting as potential tourists in the area was also put together in Bucharest. The results revealed what kind of facilities are needed for fishing tourism and ideas on how to promote a town in this field. These results were discussed at a World Café organized by the Isaccea Town Hall and CeRe. Among the participants there were various institutions and organizations that could influence tourism development in Isaccea: the European Tourist Information Center – Tulcea County Council, the County Inspectorate of Border Police, the Tulcea County Association of Sport Hunters and Fishermen, the Vox Deltae Association, EU.RO.Delta, the Association of Ecotourism in Romania, firms, citizens, etc. The conclusions of these discussions were used by the Isaccea Town Hall to update the section on tourism in the town’s Development Strategy and to strike partnerships for projects with local impact. The project ran between September and December 2008.
