Towns for All – Towns for Children (2001-2002) was a strong campaign to draw attention to the challenges faced by disabled people. The campaign started in 9 counties and was gradually extended to 22 counties.

The initiators of this campaign, along with their partners, managed to do a great job of getting themselves mobilized: they collected 47,009 signatures (in 240 minutes, which means that 33 people signed EVERY minute), aired a campaign ad entitled “A Matter of Dignity”, three commercials, distributed hundreds of posters, leaflets, flyers, conducted seminars and press conferences all over the country, mobilized parents of disabled children to take part in street events, talked with thousands of people about the problems faced by disabled children, and persuaded the competent institutions to adopt the Parents’ Manifesto. They made all these efforts to draw attention to the fact that Romanian schools – and not only them – do not provide access for children in wheelchairs, and to respond to the “indifference” of the representatives from local public authorities, targeted institutions, and the wider public.
