Goal and objectives
The goal of the project was to increase the capacity of the new Consortium for Good Governance (The Pro Democracy Association-PDA, the Resource Centre for public participation - CeRe and the Media Monitoring Agency - MMA) to implement projects aimed at increasing the quality of local governance and to assist nongovernmental organisations and local administrations in implementing similar projects.
The objectives of the project:
- creation of a methodology to be used for assessing and increasing the quality of local governance;

developing two pilot projects to test and refine the methodology and to be implemented in the two communities;

promotion of the methodology towards the local public administration and NGOs in 1000 communities.
Results

a methodology for assessing and increasing the quality of governance at local level was created and obtained recognition from the Towns' Association of Romania;
-
local governance good practices were collected from European countries (Hungary and France);

local working groups were formed in 2 communities, Jimbolia and Cristeşti;
-
local public administration improved its communication methods in its relationship with the citizens;
-
citizens from the 2 communities learnt how to monitor and engage in a dialogue with local administration;
-
the governance in the two communities was assessed according to the newly created methodology;
-
the above mentioned methodology was promoted and tested within the project;
-
the methodology for promoting good governance in Romanian communities was adopted and further improved during the project "Partnership for Good Governance and Local Development".
